 | CONIFERS
Austrian Pine (up to 150') A fast-growing, very adaptable
ornamental tree: colder, drier climates. Windbreaks.
Colorado Blue
Spruce (up to 100') A beautiful ornamental tree with blue-green foliage.
Good windbreak.
Douglas Fir (up to 130') A moderate growing conifer intolerant
of shade. Excellent Christmas tree.
Eastern Red Cedar (up to 75') A
splendid, densely pyramidal ornamental tree. Berries
for wildlife. Very hardy.
Norway Spruce (100-150') Extremely
hardy and wind resistant, moderate-fast growth rate.
Ponderosa
Pine (up to 200') Fast-growing native conifer. Good windbreak.
Rocky Mountain Juniper (to 30' or more) A small pyramidal tree with
silvery foliage, berries. Good survivor.
Scotch Pine (50-60') A favorite as an ornamental tree; colder,
drier climates; slow-growing. Windbreaks.

Chokecherry (up to 25') Larger shrub with white flowers and red
fruits.Drought and heat tolerant.Good windbreak.
Honey Locust (up to 100') Thornless, fast-growing, adaptable
with tiny, bright green leaves.Pods eaten by wildlife.

 | SHRUBS
Autumn Olive (up to 12') Wide
spreading shrub with silvery foliage, yellow flowers, and red berries. Drought tolerant and wildlife use.
Caragana
(Siberian Pea Shrub) (up to 18') A
hardy, drought tolerant shrub. Yellow flowers. Excellent windbreak.
Common or
Early Lilac (up to 12') Attractive
green foliage with fragrant purple lilac blossoms. Windbreak.
Honeysuckle
(Up to 10') Dependable, hardy shrub with pink flowers.
Good windbreaks and streambank stabilization.
Late Lilac (Up to 9') Very hardy, blooming later than other
lilacs with a light rosy-lavender to white blossom.
Russian Olive (20-25') Large
shrub, silvery leaves, yellow flowers. Good for
windbreaks, drought and alkali tolerant.
Smooth Sumac (9-12') Fast-growing,
colorful large shrub with good drought tolerance. Native.
Snowberry (3-4') Native with bright white berries. Drought and shade tolerant - Excellent erosion
control and wildlife uses.
Woods
Rose (up to 5') Native
shrub with clusters of light pink flowers. Good
erosion control and wildlife uses.
